Dear god. The Master’s like a big black velvety cat all throughout this scene. He just treads around the Doctor smoothly, silkily and purrs (how in the fuck he can make the name “Cassiopeia” sound like pure sex I just don’t know) and then brushes that dust off him as a final insult, just like a cat playing with a half-dead mouse. And the Doctor just takes all this shit, stoically, because he knows he’s going to die and isn’t going to give the Master the satisfaction of seeing him panicking or whining or anything like that. You can tell they’ve already got centuries of this game behind them.

The Doctor and the Master. Boyfrienemies. So much OTP I can hardly contain my fangirling. They have such a history, and are the only two who really understand each other on a level humans cannot. Theirs is a much more complex history than just the hero and the villain. Sure, they fight and the Master repeatedly tries to take over the world/kill people/imprison the Doctor, but there’s also a sense that the two are getting more from their battles than they would with any other adversary. With NuWho in particular making the Doctor and the Master the last of the Time Lords, there’s an added element of tragedy and need, similar to the time when the Third Doctor was trapped on Earth and the Master kept showing up to
